At five years old, John Goetsch Jr. accepted Christ as his Savior during one of his father's revival meetings. Being raised in an evangelist's home, he was priveleged to see God work in amazing ways, both in his family's life and in the lives of countless others across the country. Visiting these numerous churches also allowed him to learn many valuable lessons about ministry.
Knowing that God had called him to ministry, he moved to Lancaster, CA, and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor's Degree in Church Ministries. During his senior year, he pastored First Baptist Church in Boron, CA. He stayed for three years after graduation to help the church continue to grow and to help them find a permanent pastor.
In 2001, John and his family moved to Fresno, CA, to be an assistant pastor to Chuck Miller at Faith Baptist Church while waiting on God's timing to go into full-time evangelism. In 2005, the Goetsches started traveling across the country as a family to hold revival meetings. It was during this time as an evangelist that he had his first encounter with Faith Baptist Church in Yuma. Faith was without a pastor for a while and Brother Goetsch would come from time to time to preach and to encourage the people here. God knit the hearts of these people to the Goetsches and asked if John would come and be their pastor. Always open to God's call and leading, he prayerfully considered the request. On April 5, 2009, he came to candidate for the position. Just a few weeks later on April 26, the church voted unanimously to accept John Goetsch Jr. as their pastor.
Since that time, God has blessed the ministry of Pastor Goetsch. He has seen many saved, baptized, and added to the church. He has a passion to proclaim the Word of God. He has a heart to care for and lead people. He has the desire to see Yuma reached with the Gospel for the glory of God.
Pastor and his wife April have been married for 16 years and they have five children: Katie, Annie, John, Mollie, and Sophie. They lead the church by example, serving together in various ministries. April also teaches a Ladies' Bible Study in the Fall and has a heart to disciple and teach the ladies of the church.
